“Make money online” is still one of the most searched phrases on the internet and for good reason. Whether you're a seasoned blogger or just starting out, the dream of earning passive income through Google AdSense is alive and well. But let’s be honest: for many creators, that dream feels just out of reach.



You’ve probably heard the stories. Some bloggers rake in hundreds or even thousands each month, while others despite publishing high-quality content, using strong keywords, and adding beautiful images barely break $100. I know, because I was one of them.

For years, I poured my heart into my blogs. I followed all the advice: write what people search for, optimize your titles, add relevant photos, and make sure your AdSense ads are well-placed. Still, my earnings were stuck in the pennies-per-day range. It felt like rowing upstream with no paddle.

Everyone said backlinks were the secret. And they were right but they left out a crucial detail: not all backlinks are created equal.

The Day Everything Changed

Back in the early days, I stumbled across a video while searching YouTube for content ideas. It wasn’t flashy, but it made one point that hit me like a lightning bolt: strategic blog commenting can drive real traffic if done right.

So I tested it.

Day One: I searched for the top 10 blogs related to my niche. I looked for posts with lots of comments (a sign of popularity and engagement) and left thoughtful, relevant comments about 300 characters each. Instead of signing with my name, I used a keyword-rich anchor text linked to a specific post on my garden blog.

Then I walked away. No social shares, no email blasts. I spent the rest of the day weeding my actual garden.

That night, I checked my stats: 657 views and $3.12 in AdSense earnings. That may not sound like much, but it was more than I’d made in weeks. And it got me thinking: if I could earn $3 a day from one blog, what could I do with seven? Or thirty?

Scaling with Intention

That small win lit a fire. I set a goal to build out 30 blogs, each earning just $1 a day. That’s $900 a month enough to chip away at debt, build savings, or reinvest in my creative work.

And here’s the thing: the method still works in 2026. Blog commenting, when done with care and authenticity, is still a powerful way to:

  • Drive targeted traffic
  • Build relationships in your niche
  • Improve your blog’s SEO through backlinks
  • Increase your AdSense earnings

A Few Tips for Today’s Creators

  • Be genuine. Read the post. Respond thoughtfully. Add value.
  • Use keyword-rich anchor text when linking to your blog (if allowed).
  • Avoid spammy comments. “Nice post!” won’t cut it. Aim for 300+ characters.
  • Track your results. Use analytics to see what’s working.
  • Don’t overdo it. A few high-quality comments are better than dozens of throwaways.

If you’re feeling stuck with your blog earnings, don’t give up. Sometimes the answer isn’t more content it’s smarter promotion. Strategic blog commenting helped me break through a plateau, and it might do the same for you.
