"Hot News" doctrine gets a body-blow - Boing Boing

'Alrady minds want to know' - How do you think this will affect those writing for Examiner or Gather? Will this affect any bloggers or writers that want to incorporate news modules into their lenses, hubs or blurbs?

Electronic Frontier Foundation copyright attorney Corynne McSherry has news about Barclays v FlyOnTheWall.com, a case that asked the Second Circuit Court of Appeals to rule on whether the 'Hot News' doctrine could be applied in the digital era. 'Hot News' is an obscure corner of law that lets newsagencies treat publicly available facts as property and prevent others from reporting on them for a set time."

Writing Online - URGENT Blogs at risk of deletion!

A friend has just written me that several of her blogs have been deleted. Title issues such as the title must match the url are being enforced NOW.
Google decided to enforce the rule of title matching the url on 5 of my friend's blogs.
If you are using a Google product such as Blogger or Blogspot you must make sure you have signed into your blogs and also that titles and url's match. Don't be a victim of neglect. The following is excerpted for reporting purposes from the Google blog. Please make sure to read the entire post by clicking on the title link. Protect yourself - practice "Safe Blogging"
Blogger Buzz: An important note about legacy accounts: "For a number of technical and operational reasons, we’ve decided to finally end our support for migrating legacy accounts and blogs after August 1st, 2011. So if you have a Blogger account and haven’t logged in since 2007, you will lose access to the account and associated content permanently unless you update to the Google Account system before August 1st.
and "we encourage you to head over to the Legacy migration page and update your account."

#eHow writer Joyce Mann: friends can donate in memory of son Adrian

Joyce Mann, a fellow eHow writer, has recently lost her son Adrian.  Adrian attended college in Tucson Arizona.

Donations can be made to the charity of her choice:   ANGEL FLIGHT WEST  you can contribute in the name of  Adrian Paul Pfitzer.  Joyce told me that this would mean the world to her and her husband. I would add that if you are a pilot or able to contribute by volunteering for this organization, it would be of great benefit to many families! The following is a quote from their website -
Angel Flight West is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization that arranges free, non-emergency air travel for children and adults with serious medical conditions and other compelling needs. Our network of 1,900 pilots throughout the 13 western statesdonate their aircraft, piloting skills, and all flying costs to help families in need, enabling them to receive vital treatment that might otherwise be inaccessible because of financial, medical, or geographic limitations.  Take a look at our current

Recently on Joyces Facebook page this post appeared and moved me.  Make sure to check out the link, to read the moving words for this song.

Here are the lyrics of the song written in my son's memory. The author is the music director of Adrian's church in Tucson. Thank you Susan!
